Is it possible for a hare and wild rabbit to cross breed?

The reason i ask is that i have one who came from the wild, and am unsure what he is. Everything i find on the internet about rabbits and hares sujests he could be either, and everyone who sees him says he is something differentIs it possible for a hare and wild rabbit to cross breed?
Put them in the same cage and find out.Is it possible for a hare and wild rabbit to cross breed?

Yes, it is possible.
';rabbits'; and ';hares'; cannot interbreed, as they have different numbers of chromosomes. However, cottontail rabbits actually belong to the hare category.





Domestic rabbits cannot interbreed with cottontails or hares due to the chromosome issue.
