Why does my rabbit have flakey scabby bits at the base of her ears?the fur has come away and it looks sore.?

i'm really worried about her,we only got her about two weeks ago,we let her come in the house in the evening and she sleeps in her hutch during the day and at night.she is only 3 months old and is an english rabbit, quite big actually!she is a lovely thing, the only problem is her ear.she used to scratch it quite a bit but now she doesn't touch it from what i can see,i think it's quite sore.

have you got any ideas of what it may be?Why does my rabbit have flakey scabby bits at the base of her ears?the fur has come away and it looks sore.?
The flakey scabs in her ears are probably mites (my rabbit had those)- its not like you might imagine (like little fleas or something)... its just like you said, flakey and scabby and GROSS. Her fur may be shedding since the weather is warming up...

At any rate, take her to the vet. They can treat it and the mites anyway will go away in just a couple of days.

Forewarning... its a bit expensive. I don't remember how much my vet charged but i remember thinking it was kind of a lot for what little they seemed to do.

Unfortunately we don't have much of a choice...its amazing what we do for our pets. :)Why does my rabbit have flakey scabby bits at the base of her ears?the fur has come away and it looks sore.?
Sounds like a case of ear mites, you need to put antiseptic cream on the sore places.

This will not only act on the raw places, but it will also help stop the mites from spreading.
Just take her to the vet, and I'm sure he'll give you some medicine if it's really serious. So, don't fret! ;)
