Is it safe to keep a mini lop rabbit in an outside cage?

i have a mini lop and it's kept in a cage in the basement, i want to buy a bigger cage and possibly keep her outside this summer, i heard some things like flys will breed in the poop ect...also how would i make sure she doesn't get too hot? any other tips appreciated. Is it safe to keep a mini lop rabbit in an outside cage?
If you keep the poop cleaned out at least once a week it will be fine. put the cage in a spot that is shaded, and you can freeze a gallon milk jug and put it in the cage every morning. the rabbit will wrap itself around it to keep cool. Consider making it a house rabbit. I have a mini lop that runs free in the house. you can litter box train it. the are alot of fun to have around. check out this web site.

House Rabbit Handbook: How to Live With an Urban Rabbit

it has lots of great info.Is it safe to keep a mini lop rabbit in an outside cage?
make sure it is a secure cage we lost a rabbit to a wild animal because we kept it in an outdoor cage. make sure that there is a seperate location in the cage where she can get away from the heat and cool off. keep cool drinking water also and she should be fine ( they used to live in the wild you know) weather doesn't seem to be a problem with our rabbit and we live in new england and it is outside all year snow and all.
While living alone in a hutch outdoors is a lonely existence for a rabbit, a house rabbit that is allowed time outdoors will likely enjoy the change of scenery and fresh air. There are several dangers in the outdoors, including predators, weather, and toxicity from herbicides, pesticides or poisonous plants. Since predators present the largest danger at night, keeping a rabbit outdoors in a hutch at night is risky, even in a city (where predators may include raccoons, cats, dogs, coyotes, hawks and more). Many of these can injure or kill a rabbit without even getting into the cage. If a rabbit is to stay outside, it should at least be in an enclosed shed, garage, or some shelter that allows complete protection.

Many owners allow their rabbits outside in an enclosed pen made form a wood frame with wire on all sides (including top and bottom). This allows bunnies to spend time outside and munch on the grass (provided it is not treated with any herbicides, pesticides or other chemicals!) without burrowing out, and with protection from unwanted visitors. Shelter from sun, wind, rain, and other elements must also be provided.
do you live in the country? i do, and it can be extremely dangerous! as long as the cage is all very well wired and has a secure bottom. make sure animals can't pull pieces of the animal through the wire (sad and gross, but has happened to me!) and can't dig under the bottom. this means no dirt or anything under! and the wire must be very, very small-knitted so things like raccoons can't reach in! and there MUST be a top. if it's cold, put the bunny in. if it's really hot, put it in a cool, shady place, like shaded concrete. also, try a fan not too close but close enough to cool her off. i don't know about the poop thing . . . there could be something you could spray in the cage or around it to ward off flies while keeping your bunny healthy. talk to your local vet
Yes it is safe as long as it wasn't a indoor rabbit. If it is young that's okay but over a year you may mess up its coat cycle.
